Ok, can anybody email me and tell me where this summer went? Are we still having Fourth of July? It seems like only yesterday we were getting out of school and playing our first gig back in April. Well, here's a little bit about how my summer went. It's pretty boring actually. Starting off at spring break, I started working for a new beach service company called Sunset Beach Service. There were not enough lifeguards to run the Okaloosa Island so my first job was there. I have never seen such long days in my life. Sitting in a lifeguard tower for about 9 hours really sucks. Finally, after a few hints to the boss, I was sent to Destin Gulfgate, a small condominium with 66 units. All by myself I ran this condo all summer long. Nothing exciting ever happened really, nothing like the previous years. I made one rescue and did first aid on one guy. A pretty slow year. Working on such a small beach allowed me to talk more with my guests and get to know them better. I met several really cool people this past summer. The lead singer of the band Fuel, his high school principal comes to Gulfgate every year, members from Chris Tomlin's church in Texas, the owners of the McDonald's in Arkansas, the old manager of the band Cowboy Mouth, and that's only naming a few. I had no really big problems except for one foe, a guy named "Malibu Mike." Mike used to run a good stretch of beach but lost two condos to Sunset splitting his stretch in half. So he had the condo to the east of me and to the west of Destin Beach Club, the other beach lost to Sunset who my good friend C.J. worked. So Mike didn't say much to me but I pushed his buttons as much as I could by simply being nice. He couldn't stand but couldn't do anything about it either. But that's about it. Just a few long days at the beach, a few road trips, and a couple concerts without our lead singer.
